Basque Country Orange Liqueur

The recipe for our newest Basque Country Orange liqueur comes from local celebrity chef Roger Dufau. Roger comes from the town of Saint Jean De Luz which is in the Basque region of France, bordering Spain. Passed down through the generations, Roger was shown how to create this liqueur by his mother, Lucie. We peeled our oranges the suspended them and their zest over 95% alcohol in a sealed container for 5 weeks. The alcohol then draws out all of the delicious citrus flavours! Traditionally it is served at around 40% but we chose to keep ours at a typical liqueur alcohol content of 23%.
