In its early decades, Elora was a wild and rowdy frontier town, much like many others in Upper Canada, and its history includes more than a few haunting stories.

One of the village’s beloved leaders was mysteriously found burned to death in her own kitchen hearth. A 16 year old Mill and Distillery gatekeeper died after passing out at a local tavern, where the bartender was only 17. Even the temperance crowd had their moments. One prominent teetotaler regularly assaulted a Constable for drinking on the job, and once pulled a gun on a visiting politician, who eventually went on to become Ontario’s first Premier.

For generations, these stories lingered in Elora’s collective memory. And perhaps, in a village with this much history, they still do. Join us in the Royal Room for a cocktail, something delicious from our newly refined menu, and an evening of stories as Al Koop takes us a little deeper into Elora’s rich and mysterious past.

$10 per person in advance | $12 at the door, if space allows

Thursday, October 8 | Doors at 6pm | Show at 7pm

About our Host: Al Koop has been an avid collector and performer of stories, ballads and folk songs for decades.
